Several years ago, during my daily Bible reading, I was studying 2 Peter 3. While the chapter is often associated with prophecy and the return of Christ, what struck me most was something far more personal. I felt convicted by the realization that my own walk with Christ needed greater urgency and intentionality. I began asking myself a simple question: If I truly believe what Scripture says, am I living with the purpose and commitment Jesus calls His followers to embrace?
Around that same time, a lifelong friend who had never shown interest in Christianity experienced a dramatic conversion to faith in Jesus Christ. Soon after, I had the privilege of baptizing him and another childhood friend. Their excitement was contagious, but it also revealed a challenge. Like many new Christians, they immediately began asking, "What's next?"
As I searched for resources to help them grow, I found many excellent studies, but I also found much of the curriculum available focused more on discussion topics than on building a strong foundation in God's Word.
Many believers are hungry for deeper biblical understanding, yet there seems to be few structured pathways combining daily engagement with God's Word, intentional discipleship, and practical application.
Those experiences led me to begin writing what eventually became the first study, for our small group.
What began as a single study quickly became something more. As the first study came to a conclusion, members asked for the next step. They weren't looking for another topic. They wanted to continue growing in God's Word.
That hunger ultimately became the foundation for this year-long discipleship journey.
The purpose of this curriculum is simple: to help believers build biblical knowledge, develop a daily habit of engaging Scripture, and grow into intentional followers of Jesus Christ. Every lesson, devotional, discussion guide, and reflection is rooted in God's Word and designed to help believers not only understand Scripture more deeply but live it more faithfully.
My prayer is that these studies help churches strengthen discipleship, help leaders guide meaningful conversations, and help believers rediscover the joy, purpose, and transforming power of walking daily with Jesus Christ.

Dan Ellsworth's journey of faith began in rural Colorado, where childhood memories of church, Vacation Bible School, and an early love for Scripture planted seeds that would shape his life. In junior high, his family began attending Meeker Christian Church, where Dan was baptized and developed a deeper commitment to studying God's Word. Under the faithful, verse-by-verse teaching of Pastor Merv Johnson, Scripture became more than a Sunday routine, it became the foundation of his faith and daily life.
Since marrying his wife, Betsy, in 1996, Dan has sought to build a Christ-centered home grounded in faith, love, and perseverance. Together they have raised two children, Matthew and Morgan, while navigating life's joys, challenges, and seasons of growth. Those experiences continue to shape his heart for discipleship and his conviction that spiritual growth happens through a daily walk with Christ.
For more than two decades, Dan has served in church leadership as a small-group leader, deacon, and elder. He has also participated in global missions, including training lay pastors in India and supporting indigenous ministry efforts. While not formally trained as a theologian, Dan is a devoted student of Scripture with a passion for helping believers grow deeper in God's Word and develop a more intentional faith.
Professionally, Dan has spent more than thirty years in the animal health industry and currently leads a consulting firm focused on helping organizations bring innovative products to market. Yet his greatest passion remains encouraging believers to engage Scripture, grow in biblical understanding, and follow Jesus Christ with greater purpose and conviction.
Above all, Dan is a broken follower of Christ who understands his daily need for God's grace and redemption. The studies in this series reflect his belief that God's Word still transforms lives, discipleship is a lifelong journey, and every believer can grow deeper in faith through a consistent relationship with Jesus Christ.
